Gripped by off scale sportsmen and their physical involvement, Denis Rouvre began working on wrestlers around the world, starting with this impactful series of portraits.
Wrestling was realised in 2008 with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), the most important professional wrestling organization in the world. The wrestlers are actors of a “sport’s entertainment”, follow “soap-operas like” storylines and play in a show which theatricality is all but invisible.
Nevertheless, they remain sportsmen whose bully is total and whose physique is magnified in this face to face bareness.
